wood green parklet

Commissioned by Haringey Council to deliver the design vision for an interactive parklet. Creating a suikinkutsu or Japanese Water Harp, a traditional garden ornament which is notoriously difficult to construct. Consisting of inverted pots of differing size which are set in concrete. The water drips slowly through the top opening to resonating in the pots, creating a distinct ringing noise. All components of this centrepiece must be finely tuned with each other to ensure its unmistakable sound. A waterproof and locking notice board was also installed alongside a seed library and seed drying units for community planting.

Processes include: Design development, joinery, concrete forming, finishing and installation.
